Two three-wheeler racketeers who rob passengers' gold items were apprehended in Boralesgamuwa.

Boralesgamuwa Police have arrested two main suspects of an organized gang that deceives people, including elderly individuals, by claiming to provide goods bags worth fifteen thousand rupees and aid through churches, then robs their gold jewelry and flees. The police have revealed that this group, taking people into their vehicle under the guise of taxi rides, strategically directed them to supermarkets midway and carried out this racket.




The main suspect arrested in connection with this incident, a three-wheeler driver, is a fifty-one-year-old resident of Madapatha, Piliyandala. During a raid conducted by the police in the Katuwawala area, 5210 milligrams of 'Ice' drug were found in the suspect's possession, and the three-wheeler used for the racket was also taken into police custody at the same time.

Based on information revealed during interrogations of the arrested driver, officers have succeeded in arresting the other suspect involved in this racket in the Wana Rathana Road area of Dehiwala. At the time of arresting the forty-three-year-old accomplice suspect, the police also found a stock of pawn slips for gold jewelry in his possession.




Investigations have confirmed that the three-wheeler driver carried out this racket involving his wife, and that the gold jewelry stolen by deceiving people had been pawned in various areas. Based on this information, the police have taken steps to inspect the suspect's house in Madapatha, but it is reported that his wife had already fled the area by then. It has also been revealed that the three-wheeler used for the crime was purchased from the Padukka area for three hundred thousand rupees, and Boralesgamuwa Police are conducting further investigations into this matter.
