The Political Bureau of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) has decided to initiate disciplinary inquiries against nine of its members who voted in favour of the budgets of several local government bodies, contrary to the party's decision. A senior party official stated this yesterday (19).

This decision was reached yesterday (19) afternoon at the party headquarters on Darley Road, Colombo, during a Political Bureau meeting chaired by SLFP Chairman Mr. Nimal Siripala de Silva.

The official further stated that it has been alleged that the relevant local government members voted in favour of the current "Malima" government, and future actions regarding them were extensively discussed at this meeting. Meanwhile, he also mentioned that the Sri Lanka Freedom Party's May Day rally has been decided to be held at Campbell Park, Borella, and a letter has been sent to the Colombo Municipal Council to obtain approval for it.

Furthermore, the official further stated that it was also decided to hold a commemorative event organized by the Sri Lanka Freedom Women's Front in Kandy for International Women's Day on March 8th. Many members of the Political Bureau, including the General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, Mr. Duminda Dissanayake, participated in this meeting.
