Thai women sold in a hotel in Wellawatte

The Colombo South Divisional Criminal Investigation Bureau states that five Thai women were arrested after raiding a brothel operating on a lease basis inside a well-known hotel in the Wellawatta area. Police investigations have revealed that one of the arrested women was acting as a manager, engaging the other women in prostitution.

These women are between 28 and 38 years of age.

Information was revealed during investigations conducted by deploying an intelligence officer from the Colombo South Divisional Criminal Investigation Bureau as an undercover agent. Accordingly, it is reported that an amount of Rs. 10,000 is charged for entry into this brothel, and another Rs. 10,000 must be paid to select a woman. The police also state that one woman earns approximately Rs. 150,000 per day, and if a foreign national comes to avail the service, an amount of Rs. 25,000 is charged. It appears that all the arrested suspects were residing in the country with valid visas while engaging in this illegal activity. They were scheduled to be produced before the court.
