Arrangements have been made to hold a massive Sangha conference on the upcoming 20th, at 2.00 PM, at the All Ceylon Buddhist Congress Headquarters in Colombo, with the participation of both lay and monastic communities. Joining a press conference held in Colombo yesterday (12), Mr. Roshan Maddumage, Deputy Chairman of the All Ceylon Buddhist Congress, stated that the primary objective of this conference is to extensively discuss the injustices and misconduct against Buddhist monks, the Buddha Sasana, the nation, and the country, and to draw the government's attention to these matters.

Speaking at this press conference, Mr. Chandra Nimal Wakishtha, Chairman of the Congress, pointed out that currently, the law in the country appears to be implemented in two different ways. Although the law was enforced against police officers who assaulted a Catholic priest and they were imprisoned, no investigation has yet been carried out against the police officers involved in the assault on Buddhist monks in Trincomalee, he emphasized. Furthermore, the Chairman added that the Sinhala Buddhist people have never behaved violently and have never worked to spread hatred or animosity towards anyone.

Mr. Wakishtha stated that the Maha Sangha (Buddhist clergy) are constantly at the forefront, providing proper guidance for the protection of the country and the state, and therefore, assaulting and harassing them is indirectly destroying the entire state. He also clarified that it was decided to convene the relevant Sangha conference considering this serious situation.
