Trump, stating that a specific mechanism would be established for the governance of Venezuela, hinted that the team behind him, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, would take the lead in this endeavor.US military chiefs revealed that this military operation was conducted very secretly and targeted specific objectives, with over 150 aircraft participating. Intelligence had been gathered for months regarding Maduro's location and his activities, and it is reported that Maduro and his wife surrendered when US forces surrounded the location. They were subsequently arrested and taken to the USS Iwo Jima, and Trump also presented a photograph of Maduro to the media.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that neither the US nor the European Union recognizes Maduro as a legitimate president, and that he was wanted by US courts in connection with drug trafficking. Rubio accused Maduro of having several opportunities to avoid this situation but chose to disregard them. Maduro and his wife are scheduled to be prosecuted in New York for drug and weapons offenses, and they will face US law on American soil.
