Residents of the Ondachchimadam area, which falls under the Kaluvanchikudy Police Division in Batticaloa, are in severe fear due to a large crocodile roaming near human settlements and are requesting steps to be taken to control the animal. It is reported that this crocodile is residing in a water source located close to the Batticaloa - Kalmunai main road and is more than seven feet long.
It is said that villagers are constantly facing an unsafe situation, especially at night, due to this crocodile approaching houses where people live. Additionally, residents point out that passengers traveling on the Batticaloa - Kalmunai main road at night are also disturbed by this animal, and it has become a threat to the lives of the passengers.
Residents further urge the relevant authorities to take immediate action to remove this giant crocodile from the area before any loss of life or danger occurs due to it.
