Jasinghe seeks protection due to death threats received after Bellana's removal.

Health Secretary Dr. Anil Jasinghe has written to Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasuriya, requesting that his security be ensured in the face of death threats he has received, and that legal action be taken against those involved. The Health Secretary's letter to the IGP states that these threats are being made by a suspended health sector official, with the involvement of several other individuals.

Dr. Jasinghe has also drawn the IGP's attention to a statement made by civil society activist Asela Sampath on social media. The Health Secretary specifically mentioned in his letter the statement made by the said civil society activist, advising him to prepare a bulletproof vehicle for himself.

It is reported that the Health Secretary had requested this intervention from the Inspector General of Police before the Health Services Committee of the Public Service Commission suspended Dr. Bellana.
