Notices have been issued to Mr. Namal Rajapaksa, National Organizer of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) and Member of Parliament, and Mrs. Shiranthi Rajapaksa, wife of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, to appear before various investigative divisions of the Police.
Accordingly, MP Namal Rajapaksa has been informed to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today (26). It is reported that the MP has been summoned to record a statement regarding an allegation of maintaining connections with an individual known as 'Kehelbaddara Padme,' who is considered a member of an organized crime gang.
Meanwhile, former First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa has been informed to appear before the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) tomorrow (27). She has been summoned to provide a statement for an investigation related to an alleged financial fraud committed while operating the 'Siriliya Saviya' organization.
Specifically, a complaint has also been lodged with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) by the organization 'Against Bribery, Corruption, and Waste' regarding the purchase of a house near Musaeus College in Colombo. The complaint states that 35 million rupees (350 lakhs) from the Siriliya account were used to purchase this house through a deed dated April 05, 2013, and the organization requests a formal investigation as this is considered a corrupt transaction.
