Four suspects have been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred on December 30 last year in the Bodhiyawatta area, Saranaankara Road, Kalubowila, within the Kohuwala Police Division. Police state that a team of officers from the Mount Lavinia Divisional Criminal Investigation Bureau arrested them yesterday (03) in the Kalubowila area, Dehiwala Police Division.




Among the arrested suspects are the driver of the motorcycle used for the crime, the suspect in charge of the firearm, the suspect who transported it, and the person who provided shelter to the criminals. They are residents of the Dehiwala area, aged 25, 28, 33, and 45, and have been handed over to the Kohuwala Police Station for further investigations.

According to initial police investigations, it has been revealed that this crime is a result of a conflict between two groups: organized crime gangs and large-scale drug traffickers.




Three revolver-type firearms, ten 9mm live rounds, 50 grams of heroin, 55 grams of 'ice' drug, and two motorcycles used in the crime were taken into police custody from the suspects.

The incident occurred on December 30 last year in front of a house located in the Bodhiyawatta area, Saranaankara Road, within the Kohuwala Police Division. Two unknown individuals who arrived on a motorcycle carried out the shooting on that day, and a 16-year-old girl was injured and admitted to Kalubowila Hospital.



Kohuwala Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
