Kalutara North Police have arrested a person who attempted to provide a stock of drugs worth over four hundred thousand rupees, cleverly concealed inside a Vaseline bottle, to a suspect detained at Kalutara Prison. It is reported that 9130 mg of heroin, 5990 mg of 'ice' drug, 6670 mg of 'malpethi' (flower petals), and 4040 mg of unidentified drugs were taken into police custody from the arrested suspect.




This stock of drugs was discovered during an operation conducted by a team of officers led by Sub-Inspector W. M. L. C. Wanninayake, OIC of the Criminal Investigation Division of Kalutara North Police, based on information received from the Superintendent of Kalutara Prison. The drugs were found when a Vaseline bottle in the possession of a person who came to visit a suspect detained at the prison was inspected. The arrested 27-year-old suspect is a resident of Bandaragama West, Bandaragama.

Following further questioning regarding this matter, the suspect is scheduled to be produced before the court. A team including Sub-Inspector W. M. L. C. Wanninayake, OIC of the Criminal Investigation Division, is conducting further investigations into this matter under the instructions of Chief Inspector Thusara de Silva, OIC of Kalutara North Police.
