A flight attendant arrested with gold worth 40 million

A Sri Lankan flight attendant of a private airline, who attempted to illegally bring into the country a stock of jewelry and gold biscuits worth Rupees four crore fifty-nine lakh twenty-six thousand nine hundred fifty-seven (4,59,26,957), was arrested by customs officials yesterday (04) morning at Katunayake International Airport.




Airport customs officials stated that she is a 27-year-old resident of the Colombo area. She had arrived at Katunayake International Airport on the same flight she was working on, and was arrested while attempting to exit through the departure gate reserved for airline crew. This stock of jewelry and gold biscuits, weighing one kilogram and 163 grams, was cleverly hidden in a bag she was carrying, customs officials further stated.
