The Wellawaya Police are investigating a road accident that occurred between two vehicles.

The former minister, who was traveling from Galle to Wellawaya, collided with a pedestrian on the Defender vehicle and then hit a wall. Police reports indicate that at that moment, the driver attempted to reverse the vehicle, and another vehicle coming from behind also collided with it.

The former minister has arranged for the injured pedestrian to be admitted to the Kalubowila Hospital from the Defender vehicle. After providing treatment to the injured pedestrian, who is a resident of the Pannipitiya area, the former minister was presented before a judicial medical officer, and a senior police officer stated that the medical report confirmed he had not consumed alcohol.

According to a joint statement made by the injured pedestrian and the former minister, the police have referred this incident to a settlement, and accordingly, the former minister who was taken into custody was released, the senior police officer further stated. Further investigations into this incident will be carried out under the guidance of Wellawaya Police Chief Inspector Chinthaka Anuradha.
