Nugegoda - Underworld shooting between Kohuwala: Avishka's associate injured, CCTV footage available.

A person was injured and hospitalized in a shooting incident that occurred last night (22) in the area between Nugegoda and Kohuwala junction. Police say that a group of unknown gunmen who arrived on a motorcycle targeted a person traveling in a three-wheeler, carried out this shooting, and fled.

The person injured in this shooting, which occurred around 8:30 PM, is a 25-year-old youth residing in the Bodhiyawatta area of Kalubowila.

A hospital spokesperson confirmed that he, who was injured in the shooting, has been urgently admitted to Kalubowila Teaching Hospital and is currently receiving treatment.

Initial investigations into the incident revealed that the person who was shot had close ties with a drug trafficker named 'Avishka', who is currently hiding abroad. Police suspect that this attack may have been carried out due to a dispute arising from this underworld connection.

Following this incident, security forces immediately deployed additional police officers within Colombo city, covering areas up to the Kelani Bridge, to strengthen security and apprehend the suspects. Kohuwala Police and the Mount Lavinia Divisional Criminal Investigation Bureau have launched a special investigation to find the fleeing suspects.
