
Two students have been hospitalized after being stabbed during a clash between two groups of school-aged students near a private tuition institute in the Navinna area of Maharagama. Maharagama Police stated that the incident was reported around 7:30 PM on the 6th of last month.
Information has revealed that an argument occurred between these groups of underage students of the same age in front of the said private educational institution due to some reason. Police state that after the argument escalated into an uncontrollable clash, the assault was carried out with a knife. The two students admitted to Kalubowila Teaching Hospital for treatment due to injuries sustained in the incident are 16-year-olds residing in Nugegoda and Meegoda Dampé areas.
Maharagama Police have currently launched investigations to arrest the suspect students who assaulted and injured the students with a knife. A team of officers from the Maharagama Police Criminal Investigation Division is conducting further investigations into the incident.
