A large number of people who came to donate blood at the National Blood Bank premises in Narahenpita are waiting in queues, causing severe congestion in the area. As over three thousand donors are currently waiting in queues to donate blood,
the National Blood Centre has decided to temporarily stop admitting new donors.Issuing a special statement regarding this, the centre stated that a large number of people had come to donate blood yesterday and had to wait in queues for a long time. Authorities indicate that it will take until at least 10:00 PM to complete the blood donation process for the over 3000 people already present.
Due to this unexpected congestion, difficulties have arisen in maintaining services, and therefore, the Blood Bank urged the public to refrain from coming to the Narahenpita centre.
