An attempt to steal an automated teller machine (ATM) on Christmas Eve night in Texas, USA, has failed. Police state that the thieves attempted to drag the ATM out of the store using a stolen SUV and a metal cable.

The incident was reported at a 7-Eleven store in the Fort Worth area, and White Settlement Police have released footage showing two suspects breaking the store's front glass doors and dragging the ATM out. Investigators suspect that this incident, which occurred around 4 AM on Wednesday, may be linked to a wave of similar crimes reported across North Texas in recent weeks.

Police say two individuals, dressed in dark clothing and with their faces covered, were involved in this robbery. One of them used a metal tool to break the store's doors and then attached a cable, connected to the vehicle, to the ATM. This act caused significant damage to the store, with officers observing glass shards and merchandise scattered both inside the store and throughout the parking lot.

After two attempts, the suspects managed to drag the ATM out of the store, but it detached from the vehicle and fell onto the road while they were fleeing. The police later recovered the ATM. Investigations revealed that the black SUV used for the crime was stolen from Dallas, and police were able to locate the vehicle about half a mile from the store, near the city's camera systems and license plate readers.
