Backhoe Saman's wife Shadhika released on bail

Thirty-year-old Shadhika Lakshani, wife of the person known as Backhoe Saman alias Nirmala Prasanga, was released from remand prison yesterday (26). Although she was granted bail on the 15th, she was only able to fulfill the bail conditions yesterday.

Five organized underworld criminals who were hiding in Indonesia were arrested last August. This arrest was carried out under the direction of a chief officer of the Peliyagoda Crimes Division and an Assistant Superintendent of Police from the Criminal Investigation Department. Backhoe Saman alias Nirmala Prasanga, who was with a group including Kehelbaddara Padme, was also arrested in this manner.

After these arrested individuals are brought to Sri Lanka, legal action is expected to be taken against them.

Meanwhile, Backhoe Saman's wife and child, who were hiding in Indonesia, were also brought to the country and produced before the court, where she was ordered to be remanded.

She was granted bail on two personal sureties of five hundred thousand rupees each and a cash bail of one hundred and fifty thousand rupees. Additionally, a travel ban was imposed on her. After fulfilling the bail conditions, the suspect was released from prison.
