The Ministry of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education has paid special attention to the incident at the Colors Night of Colombo Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya, which has generated significant discussion on social media. Steps have now been taken to summon a report from the school's principal regarding the incident, and

upon receiving that report, further actions and instructions related to the incident will be provided, stated Ministry Secretary Mr. Nalaka Kaluwewa.

A video of a student publicly accusing the principal of injustice during the Colors Award Ceremony held on December 19th rapidly circulated on social media. The student alleged that despite achieving numerous victories, she was denied a sports award solely because she did not attend the rehearsals for the Colors Award Ceremony. The release of this video online has sparked widespread public debate and mixed reactions.

Meanwhile, the Alumni Association of Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya, issuing a statement regarding this incident, points out that both students involved in the incident, who are engaged in squash and swimming, have brought fame and recognition to the school. Therefore, the association requests the school administration to intervene through a panel of qualified sports experts to conduct a fair, impartial, and transparent investigation into the matter.

The Alumni Association states that a report is expected to be released after the completion of the investigation, and until then, it has requested all parties to refrain from sharing statements and posts that could adversely affect the students concerned or harm the school's reputation.
