Massive 'Ice' Haul Worth Over Rs. 90 Million Busted in Karandeniya

This morning (21), the Elpitiya Divisional Anti-Corruption Unit seized a stock of over eight kilograms of 'Ice' drug, valued at over Rs. 90 million, which was secretly hidden in a house in the Karandeniya 03 Kanuwa area.

This raid was conducted based on special information received by Inspector Rukshan, the Officer-in-Charge of the Elpitiya Divisional Anti-Corruption Unit. Police confirmed that the quantity of drugs discovered exceeds eight kilograms.

Preliminary police investigations revealed that this consignment of drugs was prepared by traffickers for sale in portions. For further investigations, the Elpitiya Anti-Corruption Unit has taken steps to hand over the seized drug stock to the Police Narcotics Bureau.

This operation, conducted under the supervision of Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police (Southern Province) Kithsiri Jayalath and Deputy Inspector General of Police (Galle District) Jagath Seram, was successfully carried out under the direct guidance of Senior Superintendent of Police (Elpitiya) R. Randeniya.

For this special operation, a team of officers participated, including Inspector Basnayake, OIC of the Elpitiya Divisional Crime Prevention Unit, Inspector Rukshan, OIC of the Anti-Corruption Unit, Police Sergeants Krishantha (5462), Jayalal (58469), Police Constables Udayakumara (82030), Jayasuriya (106907), Vithanachchi (106103), and Civil Security Force Officer Ajith (10864).
