Rail gate not working: The chief monk of the temple directs traffic

Due to the malfunction of the safety light and sound system at the Weligama Polwatta railway crossing, Venerable Pelwehere Susima Thero, the chief incumbent of Weligama Gangaramaya Ancient Temple, intervened to control the severe traffic congestion that occurred yesterday (29).

According to residents, the safety light and sound system at both railway crossings near Weligama Polwatta and Gangaramaya Road has been out of order for several days. As a result, severe traffic congestion occurs daily, day and night, on these roads. Being a main road connecting many areas and a hub frequented by tourists are major reasons for the exacerbation of this situation.

To alleviate the uncontrolled traffic congestion caused by the broken system, the chief incumbent, Venerable Pelwehere Susima Thero, was seen coming onto the road and engaging in traffic management activities.
