The husband of Shanika Samarapala (37), a mother of two residing in Homagama, Habarakada, who died on the 11th while receiving treatment for dengue at the Infectious Diseases Hospital (IDH) in Colombo, has filed a complaint with the Athurugiriya Police yesterday (23), suspecting that her death was caused by the administration of a substandard drug, and requesting an investigation into the matter.
B. Chanaka Madusanka, the husband of the deceased woman, residing in Homagama, Habarakada, commented on the matter, stating that his wife was hospitalized for dengue treatment and that they have two children. He mentioned that his wife's heart stopped immediately after the drug was administered, and doctors stated that although her heart stopped about six times and was revived each time with treatment, they were unable to save her.
Mr. Madusanka stated that even the doctors could not understand the cause of the incident and that an investigation into it has now been launched. He further emphasized, "No matter what is done now, I don't have my wife. The children don't have a mother. Therefore, a proper investigation must be conducted to prevent such incidents from happening again."
