
A person involved in large-scale 'Ice' drug trafficking has been arrested by the Dehiwala Police Anti-Corruption Unit with 20 grams and 150 milligrams of 'Ice' drug prepared for sale. Police stated that this raid was carried out on the 2nd of last month near the public market located on Dehiwala Railway Station Road, and this stock of drugs was found in the suspect's possession.
The arrested suspect is a 49-year-old resident of the Kacchana area. Preliminary investigations have revealed that he had been obtaining drugs from prominent traffickers for a long time,
preparing them into small packets at his home and distributing them to the Ratmalana, Moratuwa, Lunawa, Angulana, and Mount Lavinia areas. Acting on information received by the Divisional Intelligence Unit and a Dehiwala Police Intelligence Officer, the police apprehended the suspect while he was carrying drugs towards the beach.
Following the suspect's appearance before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate's Court on the 3rd of last month, further interrogations are currently being conducted based on the detention orders obtained.
This raid was conducted under the supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police A.J. Gunasekara, in charge of the Mount Lavinia Division, and on the instructions of Dehiwala Police Station OIC Chief Inspector Anuradha Herath. Further investigations into the incident are being carried out by a team of officers, including Police Constables (94594) Prematilake, (97329) Ranathunga, and (101813) Sangeeth, under the direction of Sub-Inspector Palliyaguruge, OIC of the Dehiwala Police Anti-Corruption Unit.
