Colombo Port City and the entire population

Parliamentary Minister Mahacharya Channa Jayasumana stated that the vote of the two ministers who planned the budget debate of the Colombo Municipal Council for the People's Power Party was an extremely decisive factor. He said that at the last moment of the budget debate, both the government and the opposition received an equal number of votes, and therefore, the People's Power Party decided to vote against the budget.

For this reason, the former minister stated that the Colombo Municipal Council was able to defeat the budget presented by the National People's Power. He also pointed out that the fact that the secret vote was taken in an irregular or fraudulent manner was a clear violation of the law.

Professor Jayasumana further stated that the National People's Power was able to obtain such a secret vote in the provincial councils, where the budgets of the provincial governing bodies are passed one by one in an irregular manner. He also emphasized that although such council seats were obtained through the mediation of the commissioners, the commissioners did not have the opportunity to make them permanent.

Professor Channa Jayasumana further stated that the current government is continuously oppressing the people, causing them suffering, and that the struggle that began in the Colombo Municipal Council will spread to the entire country.
