 A 10-year-old boy has died in a road accident while riding an e-scooter in Umm Al Quwain, United Arab Emirates. According to Umm Al Quwain Police, this tragic incident was reported last Thursday around 10:00 PM on King Faisal Street.



Colonel Mohammed Obaid Al Muhairi, Deputy Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department, stated that the accident occurred when the child was hit by a car while riding on the road. Following an emergency call to the police operations room reporting that the child had sustained serious injuries in the accident, traffic police officers and national ambulance teams immediately arrived at the scene.


Although the child, who was in critical condition at the time of the accident, was promptly rushed to the hospital, he later succumbed to his injuries.

The Asian driver involved in the accident has been taken into police custody for questioning, and initial investigations have revealed that the child was riding the e-scooter against the direction of traffic on the road. A relative of the child told Gulf News that the child has five other siblings,


and that the child had taken his elder brother's e-scooter without their knowledge while the family was having dinner.

The relative further stated that the car involved in the accident was moving at a very low speed, and the driver was attempting to park the vehicle. According to the family, the child died not due to the direct impact of the collision with the car, but from severe head injuries and bleeding sustained after being thrown onto the pavement following the impact. Police stated that further investigations into the incident are underway.
