Youth's Drug-Free Delirium: Climbs Sacred Kataragama Bodhi Tree in Chaotic Outburst

 A young man, heavily addicted to drug pills, climbed onto the historic Bodhi tree located in the Kataragama sacred grounds and behaved in a chaotic manner due to severe agitation caused by the unavailability of the relevant drugs.

This individual, said to be a resident of the Kabellewa area, carried out this unruly act yesterday (25), disregarding the sanctity of a sacred place where Bodhi Pujas are performed.

The young man, having climbed onto the Bodhi tree, displayed extremely violent behavior, uttering obscene words and shouting demands for various things. Following this incident, the OIC of Kataragama Police immediately responded, arriving at the scene and intervening to control the situation,

and under his instructions, a group of Civil Security Force officers on duty at the location worked to bring the young man down.

Although Civil Security officers managed to bring him down using very subtle strategies, his unruly behavior remained uncontrolled even afterward. It is reported that immediately upon reaching the ground, he attempted to assault the Civil Security officers who had worked to rescue him.

Subsequently, security personnel immediately took action, carried the individual, and handed him over to the police outpost located within the Kataragama Devalaya premises.
