A four-year-old girl, traveling in a three-wheeler carrying eight preschool children and a woman, tragically lost her life when her head collided with a tipper truck approaching from the opposite direction. This tragic accident occurred in the Ranminika area of Millaniya.

The deceased has been identified as little Amaya Divyanjali, a resident of Paragasthota, West Paragasthota. She was a student at a preschool in the Labugama area and was returning home in the three-wheeler with seven other friends after school, as was customary, when she met with this tragedy.

At the time of the accident, the three-wheeler was passing through the Millaniya Ranminika area, and a tipper truck was approaching from the opposite direction. Preliminary police investigations have revealed that the accident occurred when the girl, who was seated on the right side of the three-wheeler, had her head extended outside the vehicle, and it collided with the front of the oncoming tipper truck.

Due to severe head injuries sustained in the accident, the girl was immediately admitted to Halthota District Hospital, where doctors provided initial treatment. She was then transferred by ambulance to Horana Base Hospital for further treatment. However, a hospital spokesperson stated that she had already passed away upon admission to Horana Hospital. Hospital sources also indicate that the tragically deceased girl was the only child in her family.

The police immediately acted on the incident, arresting both the driver of the tipper truck involved in the accident and the driver of the three-wheeler, who had unsafely transported young children, including 10 individuals in total. Under the instructions of Millaniya Police Station OIC Chief Police Inspector Maheeka Silva, a police team including Traffic Division OIC Sub-Inspector Alwis is conducting further investigations into the incident.
