It is reported that 15 bodies have been recovered so far due to the landslide that occurred near the Kotmale Rambadagama area, and another 17 people are missing. The central part of the Rambadagama village, located between the Nuwara Eliya and Pundaluoya roads, was affected by this landslide during the night of the 27th and the early hours of the 28th.
Due to this disaster, residents are facing severe difficulties as they are unable to remove the bodies of the deceased or hospitalize the injured. It is also understood that disaster relief teams have not yet been able to reach the site of the incident as all roads leading to it are completely blocked.
Currently, electricity in the area has completely failed, and all telephone signals are out of service, making communication with the area a challenge. The Police Media Spokesperson's Office states that while information about the landslide has been received, the communication breakdown has made it difficult to confirm specific details about the incident.
