 The Kandy Municipal Council has officially announced that the Kandy Water Treatment Plant located in Gatambe is currently submerged due to floods, making it impossible to restore water supply within the Kandy Municipal Council area. Amidst the prevailing adverse weather conditions,

authorities have drawn public attention to the water supply disruption affecting residents within the city limits due to the incapacitation of this essential infrastructure system.

Meanwhile, areas belonging to the Yatinuwara and Gangawata Korale Divisional Secretariat divisions are being severely affected due to the rapid rise in water levels within the Mahaweli River basin. According to statements issued by relevant authorities, severe warnings have been issued that high flood conditions could occur in low-lying areas within these Divisional Secretariat divisions along the Mahaweli River within the next 24 hours.
