Indian Rescue Forces Land on Island with Tons of Aid (Photos)

 An Indian rescue forces battalion arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake this morning aboard a special Indian Air Force aircraft. This Ilyushin-76 (Ilyushin-76) type cargo aircraft, belonging to the Indian Air Force and arriving from New Delhi, India, landed at Katunayake Airport around 8:00 AM today.



Two sub-units of the Indian rescue force have arrived on the island aboard this special aircraft,


including a total contingent of 80 personnel, comprising 04 female officers and 76 other ranks. The aircraft also transported 09 metric tons of essential goods provided as aid to Sri Lanka, along with 08 metric tons of equipment required for the rescue team's operations.

Notably, 04 specially trained sniffer dogs for disaster rescue operations also accompanied this team. In addition, 18 boats, generators, and a large stock of other equipment for disaster relief efforts were transported by this aircraft.

 An Indian Air Force C-130 J aircraft had previously arrived in Colombo carrying approximately 12 tons of humanitarian aid, including tents, tarpaulins, blankets, hygiene kits, and ready-to-eat meals.

 The Indian Prime Minister has stated that the Indian government has promptly dispatched relief materials and essential relief teams to support Sri Lanka under Operation Sagar Bandhu.
