According to the latest report issued by the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) at 4:00 PM on November 30, 2025, a total of 998,918 individuals from 273,606 families have been affected by the disaster situation impacting 25 districts across the island. The report, signed by Mr. Janaka Handunpathiraja, Assistant Director General of the DMC, states that the disaster has resulted in 212 deaths and 218 missing persons.
Across the island, 1,275 safe shelters have been established, currently accommodating 180,499 individuals from 51,228 families. Gampaha District has reported the highest number of affected persons, with 211,719. Additionally, 174,255 people in Colombo District and 135,922 people in Puttalam District have been affected. In Mannar District, 79,946 people are affected, with 35,505 of them being housed in 83 safe shelters, which is noteworthy.
Badulla District accounts for the highest number of deaths, with 71 fatalities and 53 missing persons. Kandy District has reported 66 deaths and the highest number of missing persons, with 105 individuals. Additionally, Matale District has recorded 20 deaths, and Kurunegala District 19 deaths, with 37 missing persons in Kurunegala. Ampara District has reported 8 deaths, and Nuwara Eliya District 6 deaths.
In Ratnapura District, 45,769 individuals from 11,579 families are affected, while Trincomalee District has 54,107 affected persons, and Batticaloa District has 47,856 affected persons. Jaffna District reports 29,439 affected individuals from 9,154 families and one death.
Several deaths have also been reported from Anuradhapura, Mullaitivu, Kegalle, Vavuniya, and Galle districts. Although no deaths have been reported from Matara District, 1,329 individuals there are affected.
In Vavuniya District, 20,097 individuals from 5,809 families are affected, and Polonnaruwa District has 12,647 affected persons. Kalutara District reports 4,726 affected individuals, and Hambantota District has 9,349 affected individuals. Among the safe shelters distributed across the island, 180 centers are operational in Badulla District and 114 in Gampaha District. Matara and Galle are reported as districts where at least one safe shelter has not yet been established.
