The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) announces that a large number of power outages have been reported in many areas across the island due to the prevailing inclement weather conditions. They indicate that the total number of power outages reported across the island due to this disaster situation is close to forty-five thousand.

Employees of the Electricity Board are continuously working with dedication to address this emergency situation, and as a result, approximately twenty thousand of these outages had been restored by yesterday (27th) evening.

The Board further states that necessary steps are being taken to swiftly repair the remaining outages.

However, with the ongoing inclement weather, the volume of calls received by the Electricity Board's call center for reporting power outages has increased unusually. To avoid inconvenience to consumers due to this congestion, the Board requests the public to use alternative communication channels. Accordingly, the Ceylon Electricity Board emphasizes that using the CEB Care mobile application (App), the cebcare website, or the 1987 SMS service is more effective for reporting outages.
