Parliamentarian Rohitha Abeygunawardena of the New Democratic Front reveals that over twenty members, including former ministers and MPs who left the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, are expected to rejoin the party starting from January.

The MP emphasized that they will definitely rejoin the Podujana Peramuna, and discussions are currently underway with party authorities to formalize this process.

Among those expected to rejoin are former ministers Pavithra Wanniarachchi, Ramesh Pathirana, and Chinthaka Mayadunne. This group has also held a special discussion with Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna National Organizer Namal Rajapaksa in Narahenpita. According to Rohitha Abeygunawardena, the majority of this group also participated in the opposition's public rally held on the 21st.

Mr. Rohitha Abeygunawardena states that he never rejected or left the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, emphasizing that contesting under the 'Cylinder' symbol in the last general election was a strategic move to secure parliamentary representation. He mentioned that the decision helped protect his parliamentary seat because the group that contested under the 'Cylinder' symbol in the Kalutara District was stronger than the list that contested under the 'Pohottuwa' symbol.

It is also reported that former minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi, who was a strong Rajapaksa loyalist in the past and later supported Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe, is now ready to rejoin the group led by Mr. Namal Rajapaksa, through the intervention of Mr. Rohitha Abeygunawardena. Political sources state that this reunion will occur in line with the future political actions of the alliance led by Ranil Wickremesinghe and Namal Rajapaksa.

Meanwhile, further confirming this political unification, former Health Minister Ramesh Pathirana participated in an expert discussion organized by the 'Voice of Health Professionals' forum at the Solis Hotel premises in Kotte. His presence alongside Namal Rajapaksa and Podujana Peramuna General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam there indicates the political shift expected in the future.
