Cheena Patas :Dentist Severely Injured by Exploding Firecracker



A shocking incident has been reported from Panadura, where a dentist working at a government hospital suffered severe injuries after attempting to inspect a Chinese firecracker using her teeth. The Panadura Police confirmed that she is currently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit at the Colombo National Hospital.

How It Happened

According to police reports, the dentist’s son had purchased five Chinese firecrackers from a nearby shop during the New Year celebrations and placed them on a table at their home. Unaware of the nature of these items and seeking to identify them, the dentist tried to examine one of the firecrackers by biting it.

Tragically, the firecracker exploded in her mouth, causing extensive injuries to her face, teeth, and oral cavity. Several of her teeth were also damaged in the blast, hospital sources reported.

Current Situation

The injured dentist remains in critical condition, receiving intensive medical care at the Colombo National Hospital. Officials confirmed that immediate action was taken to stabilize her, but her recovery will require significant medical intervention.

Investigations and Public Warning

Officers from the Panadura Division Crime Scene Investigation Unit have conducted thorough examinations at the site of the explosion. Meanwhile, Panadura South Police are continuing further investigations into the incident.

The police have issued a public warning urging caution when handling unidentified items such as Chinese firecrackers. They also emphasized that parents must closely supervise children when purchasing or using such potentially hazardous items, especially during festive seasons.
