Sunil Perera Passed Away


Gypsies band leader Sunil Perera, who had recently contracted corona, has passed away today. He died this morning while receiving treatment at the age of 68. Last month, he was hospitalised with a coronavirus infection and returned home after receiving treatment, but his symptoms were not over. He had to be hospitalised three days ago due to a sudden illness, and his condition worsened. Sunil Perera, who was admitted to the hospital's Intensive Care Unit, passed away this morning due to Kovid pneumonia. Ivo Sylvester Sunil Perera was born on September 14, 1952.

He was educated at St. Sebastian 's College, Moratuwa and St. Peter's College, Colombo. Sunil Perera joined the Gypsies band started by his father in 1969 when he was 11 years old. His views on the socio-cultural and political situation in the country from time to time had also caused controversy. Sunil Perera is the father of four children Sajith, Gayan, Rehana and Manisha. His funeral will take place today, family sources said.
