A man who had come to the Kalawana area from the Kandakadu Rehabilitation Center was diagnosed with COVID 19 yesterday (14th) and had to close shops in the town of Kalawana due to roaming around the city.

According to the information provided by the Kalawana Health Medical Office
He is an officer working at the Kandakadu Rehabilitation Center and is married from Hangarangala, Kalawana. It was reported that he had arrived at his residence in Kalawana on the 5th.

He was taken to the Minneriya Quarantine Center on the 10th of this month and was admitted to the Minneriya Quarantine Center.

Subsequently,

11 members of his family were sent to the Diyatalawa Quarantine Center yesterday (14th), the Kalawana Medical Officer of Health said.

The Kalawana Medical Officer of Health said that 08 employees of a state bank, a dispensary and two shops he had visited had been quarantined.

He has visited several public places in the Kalawana area, and some of them have been identified, the Kalawana Medical Office said. Meanwhile, due to the COVID situation affecting the Kalawana area, shops in the Kalawana town will be closed from 12.00 noon today (15th). Mr Rodrigo said.

About 300 traders in the Kalawana Traders' Association agreed with the decision and decided to close their shops.
