An unknown person from Dubai told journalists Tissa Ravindra Perera and Hemantha Liyanapathirana that "writing about the unknown underworld should be stopped or else it will stop within a month".
The Cinnamon Gardens Police have commenced an investigation into an alleged death threat made during a telephone call to Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne.
The Cinnamon Gardens Police had informed the court that the caller, identified as Chamara Vithanage from Dubai, had made the call to the landline of the newspaper where they were on duty on the morning of the 2nd and that an author had taken the call.
Journalist Tissa Ravindra Perera had lodged a complaint with the Cinnamon Gardens Police regarding this incident on the 3rd.
The complainant serves as a deputy editor of a national newspaper, covering security news, drug trafficking, as well as underworld activities and L.A. The Cinnamon Gardens Police had informed the court that they had written several reports regarding the activities of the LTTE.
