Body of police sergeant who went to Anuradhapura on special duty ... found in lake!
A police sergeant who was away in Anuradhapura on a special duty had been on his way back. However his corpse was found in a lake in Kilawa, Galkiriyagama last morning (1), Kekirawa police say.
The police sergeant whose dead body was recovered is P.M. Gamini Ekanayaka, is a forty nine year old father of two who was affiliated to Galkiriyagama police, police say. Kith and kin of the deceased say that he was a resident of Galkiriyagama, Kekirawa and that they were in search of him from dawn of yesterday (1) from 29th night as he did not return home. The brother of the deceased said that later, his brother's dead body was found on the road of a lake along Madatugama Road, Galkiriyagama and his motor bicycle was found at the bottom of the water.
Police say that this police sergeant who was in service affiliated to Galkiriyagama police has faced this mishap when returning to the police station having gone on a special duty to Anuradhapura on 29th. Kekirawa and Galkiriyagama police say that a special inquiry is to be conducted to ascertain whether this accident happened as a result of knocking against a vehicle, or because of a strike of an elephant or else else whether some crowd is responsible for this. Kekirawa and Galkiriyagama police police stations have conducted inquiries on a special basis.
