Wealthy son who tortures father and keeps him in friend's house ... to grab property!

A wealthy son in Yakkala  has tortured his father in various ways with the motive of grabbing father's property and had kept him at a friend's home in Medawachchiya when police managed to rescue the father and had taken the son and friend into custody on a tip off received by police.

On a tip off received by senior deputy inspector of police of western province, Mr. Deshabandu
Tennakoon, after notifying senior superintendent of police, Mr. Indika Silva, after an inquiry was carried out by the special crime investigation unit of the province, the father and the servant woman who was kept in attendance for him were rescued while the 45 year old son and friend were taken into custody. According to a clue received by senior deputy inspector general of police, what was said was that a certain son in Yakkala area ... in order to grab property had harassed his father and had detained him at a place in Medawachchiya. Accordingly, head of special crime investigation unit in the division and inspector of police, Mr. Sriyan Nissanka together with a team of officers had gone to the house in Yakkala referred to and met the son concerned and had inquired about this when he had replied saying that his father had collapsed and had broken a joint and was taken to Medawachchiya for treatment.

This son has married a South African woman and has two children and is living there during which period he is living in this house with another African woman, it was so revealed, police say. Later, police officers on meeting the father at Medawachchiya where the father is supposed to be and had met him in which instance the father has mentioned that the son had beat him  demanding the property and had burned him with a leaking torch which leaked electricity and had then tied him with a chain inside the Yakkala house after which in the instance he tried to jump out of the window he was dragged along and was tied once more. Last first, he said that he was brought in the company of a housemaid to Medawachchiya and was handed over to some person.

While at the said house, while being taken in a three-wheeler to go to toilet at another place, he had made friends with the driver and had promised him a sum of five lakhs and had pleaded to help him out. In that instance, the driver has responded saying that such a sum in not necessary; but that Rs. 3,50,000 would be sufficient. Thus, on this agreement he had spoken to a friend of his over his phone and explained the predicament he is placed in. So saying, the father has told in the presence of police officers that he would credit the money to the account number given by the driver. He further said that he thought that he would be detained in that house and would be murdered. Under these circumstances the suspect son and house owner who helped detaining this old person there were taken into custody and the police had taken steps to bring the father and housemaid to Gampaha day before yesterday (3) evening and to admit the father to hospital.
