"Broke off engagement .. because of mental liberation" -- Peshala

Attention has been focused across two strong characters in Derana channel, Peshala - Purnika marriage at various levels in the social media. Purnika came forward sometime back to respond to such allegations and now Peshala too has has come forward to make his comments. Seen below are
ideas of Peshala expressed to a weekend newspaper. 

* The love story that Peshala had been hiding .. had to be brought out to the open, isn't it?

  Yes ... it has to be revealed at one time or the other, isn't it?

* It was publicised only to a very limited set of people, isn't it?

   No. This is only a marriage engagement taken in a hurry after a discussion between us and our mothers. Only a few relations at home participated. Later, must arrange a party inviting the friends. 

* Why was a decision like this taken in a hurry?

   Not in a hurry as such. Now our romance is about four years, no. 

* Is Peshala's new life graceful?

   Good. Like on other days ... nothing special. Carrying on my activities as usual. 

*But now haven't responsibilities increased?

  Yes.  Normally it's like this no. There is no point in living the same type of life, no. If there are any responsibilities ... must attend to those too, isn't it? 

* Is there a special reason to choose Purnika as your partner?

   Special reasons ... it's like this. I at most times expect mental freedom. I had gone into a marriage engagement before this, no. Whatever we do ... it's no use to us if there is no mental freedom. Because we are not people who live as criminals in this country. We are people who do something in this field to this country. When we toil and earn something and proceed on our journey, we should get support even from our marriage. It's only then that we could go on this journey. If we give support to their matters .. they also should give support for our things. If that is not forthcoming ... we can't go on that journey. 

There is nothing big special where Purnika too is concerned. Purnika gave a big support for the show I did last time. Actually if Purnika was not there ... I would not have been able to do the show. Some things go right for people at the start and some go wrong. One and the same thing does not go right for each and every person. My hope is, in god's grace to go go on a good journey. Some days back I saw that I have been attacked in facebook and various comments made. I did not even no. Those things are not relevant to me either. Those things however stand good for my publicity. 

* These day Peshala is being bombarded with so much mud-slinging, isn't it?

   It's like this. That is so. I am happy ... that I am so popular this much in this country. The other thing is that there is nothing so much to think about it as such. There are people who publish gossip and make a living, no. Another thing is ... some people have not even seen us. Some have commented that I have a woman and a child in Ratnapura ... things that I even don't know.

* Are you Peshala disturbed by these things? 

   No .. no ... felling jolly, because how much my name is being talked about. So I like it that way. 

* After seeing these things .. what did Purnika say? 

   She said nothing. What Purnika asked me was whether people have time to do these things. We search for time for everything, no. The other thing is ... mud-slinging should be done ... should insult by saying false things. Good or bad; I use everything for publicity. 

* Because Peshala is popular ... mud publicity also is much. Is it so?

   I felt so now. I am not the only person who married a woman with a child in this world, isn't it? The other thing is, am I the only person who married a woman with a child?

*Did you choose Purnika because of a well-known family connected to the arts?

  No, no. Such images are not of importance to me. Duties expected from a woman if executed by Prnika ... that is enough. I have no rule either that both of us should travel in the field. Even when I clicked up with Purnika .. people in this country knew me. 

* Are limits exercised by Purnika for Peshala's activities?

   No. I knew Purnika for a period of about three and a half or four years. So far nothing of that sort happened. The other thing is everybody in the field know me and Purnika. 

* When are you hoping to take the wedding?

   Actually, must have a small party by getting together with colleagues in our media field. Must do something for them, no. I am hoping to do so towards the middle of this month. 

* Didn't you have any problems in this romance?

   It is only problems that come in the normal way. There weren't big problems as such. Some said that I have broken up families who were getting along well. I have not done so. The other thing is, we can never break apart a family getting on well, isn't it. Was it possible to break apart my mother and father? Not possible. Purnika has her father and mother. Was it possible to break up that family? Not possible. If we happen to reach a position where we don't click ... we have to get away from there. It is something that must be done. Those things are common to everybody. 

* Peshala, is it the most compatible person you chose?

   It's like this. Maybe not the person who is compatible hundred percent. If seventy percent is compatible ... we can talk over and make the rest fall in order. We are humans, no. If we work thinking of the other person; that person also thinks of the other and works.
