Dead bodies of a couple found from a two-storied building in Nawinna, Maharagama

Maharagama police say that dead bodies of a married couple mysteriously dead were found in a two-storied building in Devananda Road, Nawinna, Maharagama last evening (30). The deceased was a couple named Wadduwage Don Manjula (40) and Jayasingha Aarachchige Sanjeewani Pradeepika (39) living at No. 5/1, down
Devananda Road, Nawinna, Maharagama, police say.

The 119 emergency number had received information to the effect that a foul odour was emanating from the direction of the said building and on having inspected the location there, the two dead bodies were found suspected to have been dead for about 4 days, police say. The dead body of a female was found on a chair kept on a flight of stairs on the second floor while the dead body of the male was found fallen at a place on the third floor still under construction and where vehicle spare parts were stored. It is understood that the two bodies were decomposed to an extent beyond recognition and was emanating a strong unbearable odour.

Nugegoda officers of crime investigation had arrived at the place and had commenced investigations while Nugegoda acting magistrate, Mrs. Sunitha Nanayakkara had conducted an inspection at the place after which she instructed police to direct the bodies to judicial medical officer of Kalubowila basic hospital and to forward a report to court.

Inquiries have been launched in several directions to determine whether these deaths was the result of a case of suicide or a case of homicide. The dead male is a businessman importing vehicle spare parts and had got into serious debt; it was revealed at primary investigations, police say.
