Student dies from virus fever -- entire Rajarata campus closed

Because of the fever epidemic that has spread around, Rajarata university has been temporarily closed. A female student of Rajarata university who was following studies in the science faculty in the second year had been under treatment at Peradeniya Teaching Hospital during which period she has passed away yesterday (2). The deceased is a 25 year old student named Oshani Erangika
Pitawala of Kandy, Pilimatalawa.

When she had gone to attend an examination, as a result of a condition of fever she has come to her house in Pilimatalawa and has been admitted to hospital. Since her fever has aggravated, she was sent to the intensive care unit where she passed away, it was reported. It is understood that Oshani's younger brother himself is a university student.

As the virus fever was circulating among students, the Mihintale premises of Rajarata university has been filled up and it had not been possible to continue studies there as a result of which the campus had to be closed down. As such, faculties such as management, sociology, science and technology were closed down without a date of re-opening.
