Killer of resident in house opposite Vihara Maha Devi park ... supposed to be rugger coach of popular school!

The suspect connected to the murder of a certain person living in a house down Dharmapala Mawatha, Town Hall opposite Vihara Maha Devi park, Colombo last night (5) was taken into custody this afternoon (6). 

Police who began inquiries regarding this murder on a information across a call received at emergency unit 119 found that the person who came from outside was murdered after a clash that took place between a person who was on rent at a house opposite Vihara Maha Devi park and the
other person. In this conflict the suspect who was in the rented house has received injuries and was taken into police custody while under treatment at ward 72 in Colombo general hospital. This suspect aged 49 years happened to be a sub-inspector of the police rugger team and had later been operating as a rugger coach of a leading boys's school in Colombo. 

This suspect had been residing for about 7 years in this rented out house till the moment of this incident and has disappeared after the murder. Police have launched search operations thereafter and he was nabbed yesterday. It was one Galabadaarachchige Manoj Sudarshana Perera aged 49 years who was the victim in this incident and was a resident of second lane, Athurugiriya Road, Homagama. He was incidentally involved in a conflict with the said rugger coach somewhere between 9.15 and 9.40 last night (5) after which a stabbing incident has taken place. Reason for the conflict is still being investigated into and Slave Island police are conducting inquiries.
