Dead body of German Tech lecturer recovered from a pit in Kuliyapitiya!
The body of a lecturer who was attached to Ratmalana German Technology College and was missing was finally found from a pit in a coconut estate belonging to him at Metobokkawaththa, Kuliyapitiya day before yesterday (5). The corpse so found was that of a lecturer named Banneheka Mudiyanselage Nandika Mahinda Basnayaka living in Madakumburumula, Metibokkawaththa.
Mother of the deceased has complained to Kuliyapitiya police last Monday (4) saying that she has
noticed her son's motor cycle parked near her gate and that he was not to be found after which police investigations have commenced. Under such circumstances when investigations were launched about the coconut estate extending to approximately 16 acres, they were able to find his dead body, police say. Police further said that when the body was exhumed, bottles of coconut oil, wicks used for lamps and some items used for poojas were found inside the pit concerned.

It was found at investigations by police that gold jewellery on the person of the deceased were missing. What was further revealed was that the lecturer was involved in a land dispute as well. Further investigations are being carried out by police officer in charge, chief inspector of police, Mr. Namal Perera, sub-inspector Mr. Chathuranga Premarathna under supervision of superintendent of police in charge of Kuliyapitiya division.
