CID Nishantha Silva leaves country with family!

With Shani Abeysekera, director of criminal investigation department and who was given a transfer recently, chief inspector of police Mr. Nishantha Silva who joined and collaborated with him has left with his children and wife last afternoon (24) from Katunayaka airport to
Switzerland, it is reported. 

Nishantha Silva who was involved in conducting investigations about various phenomena such as Lasantha murder, the disappearance of 11 youth in a white van, D.A. Rajapaksa memorial court case, killings of Welikada prisoners, attack on Upali Tennakoon and Kieth Noyar harassment and had filed legal action accompanied with relevant evidence has left the country without even the police knowing of his departure, it is reported. 

In the instance when the 52 government was established in November, 2018 Nishantha Silva was removed from criminal investigation activities and was given a transfer to Negombo police station for normal duties. Nishantha Silva earned a name as an officer who carried out inquiries in a very important manner about crimes including the Seya Sandevmi murder, the murder of girl Vidya of Jaffna, the 2014 Mahawa 'kappam' case and several such crimes. His service was even appreciated by Jaffna judge Mr. Ilanchelian. 

Under the new government within the space of a few days CID chief Shani Abeysekera too was diverted from the said investigations and posted to Galle on a transfer. Some media sources have pointed out that Nishantha Silva too may have left the country in this manner feeling fishy of a similar transfer or some other punishment.
