It is reported that inspector general of police Mr. Pujith Jayasundera whose services have been suspended was taken into custody this afternoon (1) by criminal investigation department. The reason for being taken into custody is regarding the incident where he has assaulted and threatened Mr. Abeykoon Mudiyanselage Samarakoon who was in service as the operator of an electric elevator.

"You won't be left alone!" and has gone to the extent of holding him by the collar and had tried to assault him.
Apart from that, the complaint further says that a woman sub-inspector was reprimanded in harsh words by the former IGP that same day and she happens to be the main person to testify in the incident referring to the lift operator while 6 other officers have been named as those providing evidence. It is reported that she has been reprimanded with the words, "Don't you know to act according to my orders? Is there a bigger man than me here?"
