"I couldn't find a party ... that's why I didn't come for the presidential contest" -- Nagananda

"I couldn't find a party ... that's why I didn't come for the presidential contest" -- Nagananda

Mr. Nagananda Kodituwakku who was prepared to contest the presidential election refrained from making his cash deposit until the last moment on Sunday afternoon and thus it was confirmed that he would not be contesting. He has addressed a social media channel and expressed the reason for him not to contest.

In this context what he said was that since he could not fulfill both requirements of maintaining a registered political party for 5 years and being an active participant in that party or holding a
membership in parliament and therefore he was having hopes of appearing as a candidate of another registered party. In this connection after discussing with several parties and in the end went into an agreement with the party 'Api okkoma wesiyo, okkoma rajawaru'. Thus had thought of coming forward for the presidential election from that party and settled the issue regarding British citizenship. However at the last moment that party let him down without giving him an opportunity.

Mr. Nagananda who says that they were threatened in various ways the moment he was to contest with the party known as 'Api okkoma wesiyo, okkoma rajawaru' and finally those western powers have gone into action to stop him on his tracks. Though he inquired about other parties Mr. Nagananda says that a large sum of money was demanded and that as Mr. Nagananda did not anticipate joining a party by spending money at all ... those opportunities too went astray.

In the meantime, after it was stated that Nagananda Kodituwakku was to enter the presidential fray, a large crowd having fallen in line with his ideas had rocked round him and it is reported that he was engaged in collecting funds for future political activities. Under these circumstances though various people had credited funds to his account, as he did not come forward for the presidential contest, it is found that those who contributed funds had asked that monies back as noted in his social media accounts. Some people have named him as a 'Sakvithi' who was involved in fraud.
