Grade 8 son subjected to abuse and hanged when father-mother not in house!

Judicial medical officer of Embilipitiya hospital had concluded that the mysterious death of the 13 year old child in a house in Kirama area, Katuwana, Hambanthota is case of homicide after strangulation. 

The dead body of the child by the name of Nandun Nethsarana Dias Goonawardena was found having clung to the window of the house in the parent's home. Though the householders have
admitted this child to hospital that he had hanged himself, what was revealed was that this was an instance where the said child was strangled. 

Police say that information was received that on the morning of 19th around 8.30 the schoolboy's father had set off for his business activities and that the boy's mother had gone to a kiosk close to the house and that the schoolboy had been all alone in the home. The mother who had gone to the kiosk had on returning home had seen the child hanging on to a window and subsequently had shouted out and got down villagers around after which the schoolboy was rushed to Katuwana provincial hospital. 

Hospital sources say that the student was already dead when admitted to hospital. The doctor at Katuwana hospital was suspicious about the schoolboy's death and has then reported the incident to police. Katuwana had suspected this to be an instance of homicide after which matters were reported to Walasmulla court and had then taken steps on court orders to direct the body to judicial medical officer for the post-mortem. 

At the magisterial inquiry it was deduced that this was a case of homicide with the child being strangled. Police suspect that the boy was subjected to sexual abuse before being killed.On the investigation conducted by police in connection with the incident a 22 year old person who has come from Mahiyanganaya and supposed to be a relation was taken into custody on suspicion and produced before Walasmulla court.
