18 year old Rusika dies near Pannipitiya tuition class after fighting on behalf of friend's girl friend

As a result of a brawl that took place opposite a private educational institute in Depanama, Pannipitiya early morning, a student by the name of Rusika Rukshan aged 18 years has died. This unfortunate death was reported of an instance where the deceased has come forward on behalf of his friend in a conflict which occured because of a love affair of his friend. 

As reported, deceased Rusika's best friend's girl friend has made an attachment with another boy

friend and has broken off that connection and has started a new alliance. As a result of this connection, the former lover has from time to time has worried her and has threatened her asking her to resume contact with him. However it is learned that she has rejected her former lover and had sought protection and help from her present lover. It was at this stage that deceased Rusika has come forward to render support on behalf of his friend's girl friend. It is said that he had threatened the person worrying his friend's girl friend over the phone and also when both parties met each other, saying "Look after your own business ... if not can see what happens!".

A few days before the said death it is understood that these two had entered into an argument near the tuition class and on that instance it has gone as far as entering into fisticuffs. The former lover after facing a beating from Rusika has fled, it is understood. This clash has taken place day before night as a counter-attack and this fatal fight has flared. It is said that this tuition class situated at Depanama, Pannipitiya has gone on with lectures till 11 in the night and at the end of the classes the girl and supposed boy friend who were the reason for this tragic incident had been coming out from the tuition premises when the former lover has come there in the company of about 10 others and had surrounded the girl concerned and caused her trouble preventing her from moving forward when steps were taken to hit the lover who mediated in that instance and thus  chase him away. At that moment he had contacted Rusika over his mobile phone and had asked for help. 

Rusika has then rushed to the scene from his home with a knife in hand for a counter-attack when he was subjected to an attack by the 10 assailants. This incident has taken place around 12.15 in the night near the tuition class. Rusika who had rushed to support his friend was finally seriously wounded it is understood and after being admitted to hospital has passed away. 

The deceased is a student who lived close to the said tuition class, resident at Borella Road, Depanama, Pannipitiya by the name of Rusika Rukshan. He was admitted to Homagama hospital after receiving injuries and because the injuries were of a serious nature he had passed away, hospital sources inform. 

The main suspect of this incident resulting in the brawl originating from a love affair issue is an 18 year old living in Polwatta area. Police say that he and 9 others were taken into custody and it is said that all suspects were in the age range of 18 - 21 years. The dead body of the young boy lies at Homagama hospital and Maharagama police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
