Sri Lankans who sleep on highways in Napoli, Italy!
A strange type of Sri Lankans are found living in the city of Napoli, Italy. They are those who have made a house for themselves by laying a piece of cardboard on the ground and spend their time without being engaged in any form of activity which can be interpreted as an employment as such.
Some of them have gained access to Italy by spending lakhs of money. What I cannot understand is ... after spending such a big sum of money, why they live this way. There are plenty of opportunities to
secure some employment and spend a good life thereby -- but they are not prepared for it. I am at a loss to say whether it is karma or legacy.

The Italian government and some organisations have mediated in this connection and offer to provide daily meals to this party. When the moment arrives when the vehicle that delivers the said meals, these beings who have made the highway their living; proceed to grab the food offered. The breakfast is a warm tea and crossant; lunch and dinner is delivered with coffee in the evening. Theses are offered on a superior level as could be bought from a restaurant after payment. It is bestowed in a very clean and beautifully packed manner. The Italian government goes as far as providing them with warm clothes for the cold season and other clothing plus shoes necessary for other seasons as well.
However, these Sri Lankans who sleep on highways are found begging a euro from those travelling on the roads from the morning till evening and proceed to buy a packet of wine ... thus living a miserable life. When Hira happened to pass by them they were observed engaged in a hurried discussion at a rapid rate. Though it is not decent to eavesdrop to other's talks, in order to get an understanding about them, I turned the antenna.
"Ammata siri venna ... what they speak is politics. The blunders that Sri Lankan politicians indulge in and how to put a stop to such blunders and to make Sri Lanka a 'heaven'. It is indeed so interesting to listen to those ideas. Apart from Sri Lankan politics ... some meaningful talks also could be heard in the process".
It warrants mention in this context that there are Sri Lankans in the majority of whom engage in jobs with the sweat of their brow and live satisfactorily in Italy and because of this previously mentioned 'community' ... they too are inconvenienced ... which I have to write with regret.
