Reputed radio announcer Kusum Peiris ... passes away

Veteran radio announcer Mrs. Kusum Peiris took leave from us forever last night. She had been suffering from cancer and at the time she passed away she was in her 71st year. Kusum Peiris who was a a radio announcer, a fan as well as a dubbing artiste was connected to the Sri Lanka Radio corporation in the 70s and after a long service there had retired and was spending her retirement
peacefully. 

She in fact was engaged in a number of activities such as presentation of programmes, production and dubbing. Her capturing voice was something that organisers could not put aside in descriptive narrations. It was Kusum Peiris who wrote a number of lyrics for popular songs such as 'Esura senin eka mohothakadee', 'Sihinayaki oba nihanda mediyam re', 'Sithuwili sirawee hadawatha pathule', 'Gang iwure thuru latha madulle'.   

Thamali Peiris, pioneer of Sirasa, Hiru radio channels is a daughter of Mrs. Kusum Peiris. Mrs. Peiris's remains is to lie at the address of 47/1, Swarna Pedesa, Eldeniya, Kadawatha and he kith and kin have informed that her last rites would be conducted on Wednesday (24).
